From
1972 when Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom opened,
through the mid 1980’s, there was a concession stand
in Adventureland called the Sunshine Terrace, where guests
could get a Citrus Swirl.
The
stand still exists, but the animatronic Orange Bird that
turned his head and flapped his wings is gone.
This is an important piece of history,
and no one currently at the Magic Kingdom has a clue
what I am talking about when I try to make inquiries. |
Rumor
has it that unused props are offered to Disney employees
and/or auctioned off.
If
anyone such as a past Disney employee knows the fate of
the original Florida Orange Bird from the Sunshine Terrace,
(or has pictures of the Orange Bird at the Sunshine Terrace),
please send me an e-mail at florangebird@yahoo.com.
